Wheels for Work program provides low-income working adults with affordable vehicle assistance, car repairs, or donated transportation to maintain employment. Services vary by region and are managed through local community action agencies
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:
- Residency: must be a Montgomery County Resident
- Income: Family income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
- Employment: must be currently employed for at least 23 hours per week or have a verifiable job gaurantee.
- Household: Must be expecting a child, have a minor child under 18, or be the non-custodial parent of a minor child.
- Family Situation: For vehicle acquisition, your household must not have any other vehicles and you must live beyond walking distance from your work.
- Licensing & Training: Must have a valid New York State driver"s license and successfully complete required Life Skills classes
